The Washington, D.C., police department released a video on Friday of a police dog that bit a person’s dog after the dog tried to bite him.
The dog was placed in a medically induced coma.
Police Chief Jeffrey L. Johnson said the dog bit the person on the left in the neck.
A dog handler is standing nearby, Johnson said, and he did not know the dog owner’s name.
Police said they did not believe the dog was involved in the attack.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon.
It took several hours for a canine team to be brought in to take the dog away.
The handler was taken to a local hospital and released, Johnson wrote on Facebook.
